We the Executive Committee, conducted our annual election last month to elect the next President for PMI Great Lakes. I’m very happy to announce that we elected Anthony Almaraj as our next President Elect for 2023. Anthony will serve as your President in 2024. All Symposium presentations have been recorded and are available on demand. Symposium registrants will have access to these sessions through December 31, 2022. Please self-report the PDUs for viewing the additional on demand sessions. The PDU code will be displayed at the end of each session.

We're Looking for Volunteers

PMIGL is always looking for members who want to be more involved with the chapter. This is a great way to support the growth of the chapter and earn valuable PDUs for re-certification. We are currently in need of volunteers for a number of committee projects in progress. Our current openings include the following:

Complex or complicated? Why it matters, and what can we do about it?”

Free Webinar from IIL
This presentation will cover the difference between complex and complicated and how it relates to projects. We will then understand how complexity can impact projects, with emphasis on the estimation process and connection with the triple constraint. Participants will have a chance to provide input through a live survey, and then view a proposed approach to deal with project complexity. Finally, participants will have access to a free web-based complexity model.

Speaker: Dr. Leon Herszon, PhD, PMP, CSM, CSPO, DASSM
Dr.-Leon-Herszon.jpg Dr. Herszon is the Chief Agility Officer and Sr. VP of Global Enterprise Solutions at International Institute for Learning (IIL). He launched his career at Shell, where he managed the areas of HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment), Information Technology, and strategic projects. Next, he moved on to IIL, establishing the company's South American operations with a base in Brazil. Once that was up and running, he moved to the US and now works out of IIL's global headquarters in NYC. Currently, he is responsible for scaling agile within IIL and helping businesses achieve their strategic goals. With a Master’s degree focused on project management maturity models, he went on to earn his PhD by proposing a model to support the cost estimation process for complex projects. Dr. Herszon also lectures on project management at Rutgers Business School and delivers presentations worldwide. He is a several times Ironman finisher, and communicates in English, French, German, Portuguese, and Spanish.

Construction Quality Management Community of Practice (CQM) holds a quarterly meeting the last Tuesday of each quarter to discuss topics that would benefit our community in improving their processes and procedures for better quality management using the latest best practices shared by our members. This quarter's topic is CQM 4.0 Methodology for a Construction 4.0 Quality Management .
